IF "Propagate"

I guess we all propagate certain traits to our offspring, hopefully they're the good ones. I think I can thank my maternal grandmother for my artistic abilities and her side for my general physical characteristics. Not to be greedy, but I just wish I'd gotten some of my dad's musical talent. I don't think singing by myself in the car to the radio counts!

I found some drawings I had done in one of my sketchbooks using colored pencil for the lines layered with a light wash of watercolor. The paper is kind of wrinkled from the wash on plain old paper, but I liked the looseness of the sketches. My goal is to try to keep the freshness of the quick studies when I begin working on final drafts.

Illustration Friday "Adrift"

Thought I'd have some more fun with the pig character again. This time he's a little less muddy!

Illustration Friday "Muddy"

I imagine that there will be lots of muddy pigs represented on IF this week. Hope I've created a slightly different twist on the theme. Not sure who'd like to receive a "Muddy Valentine" but I had fun playing around with a new character.

Mouse visits the pond

Still sketching my little mouse character this week. Want to get really comfortable drawing him and keeping him consistant. Would like to create a dummy that can work without text. I loved a video I saw, made by Alicia Padron about a lost little fox that works beautifully without any words at all. Her work is amazing!
