Today I am posting a couple images from my book "Alice and The Bird Lady". It told the story of my grandmother, who grew up on Block Island, and the lessons she learned from the island "bird lady", Miss Elizabeth Dickens. Miss Dickens used to visit my grandmother's one-room schoolhouse to teach the students all about birds. She would brings stuffed birds from her collection, as well as take the students out on field trips to observe the birds and their habitats.
