Getting ready for a big snowstorm here in New England---our first one of this winter. I will have to break out the XC skis myself next week and get out there and enjoy it.
Jane, This guy is great and something about him feels real different than your usual work I think because he's modeled after a toy and not a real animal. I love the colors, composition, and the touchablity you achieved with texture.
Wow, this is so rich looking. Looks like a page right out of a storybook or from a greeting card. I love how he fills the frame. I agree with Jennifer's comments as well.
I did a series of teddy bears a few years ago as an idea for a calendar. On this one I recently went back over the colored pencil with watercolor to enhance the colors and improve the background shadows. Thanks for your comments and Happy New Year!
Hi Jane, I am glad you enjoyed visiting my blog and thank you so much for your kind comment. Your work here is beautiful, I love the little mice in a previous post too. Our artic weather here in the UK has finally come to a thaw thank goodness, enjoy your snow over your side of the "pond". Kind regards from the UK, Jane
Hey Jane! I hope you all weathered the storm. I hear you guys got hit hard. Hope Christmas was great too. Happy New Year! I am in love! I’m in love with you skiing Teddy Bear! He is just wonderful!! Great colors and textures!!
I am an art teacher who loves to draw and paint, as well as illustrate for children. I also enjoy printmaking---especially block prints. Whatever I do as an artist, I have to remind myself---no pressure---it all starts by just putting pencil to paper.
super cute jane! hope you had a wonderful holiday.
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile!! Just wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI live in Rhode island and it is a TOTAL white-out at the moment. I have to admit that I wanted this!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this sweet little CC skier makes me smile and I'm going to send the link to my huband. He's a sucker for winter sports critters!
Stay safe and warm :)
The variety of texture (fur, "leg warmers, and hat) is great.
ReplyDeleteCharming! I really like the trees in the background as well as the textures on the bear. You do beautiful work with colored pencils.
ReplyDeleteWonderful character and details
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I love his outfit! The details are amazing! Hope 2011 is good to you! :)
