"Whisper"

You have to whisper in the library.

I'm enjoying my week of February vacation so far. The past couple of days have been pleasant weather-wise, although a mixed bag of snow/ice/rain is in the forecast for the next couple of days. Really looking forward to Spring!

I've been working on a new block print of my cat, Sadie. She's multi-colored with longish hair, and I'm hoping to be able to create the textures and tones in the print. I started with a gray layer, and added a tan over that. Now I have to cut away the tan areas and print the next color.

Here's the "queen" herself, hanging out on her blanket on the couch.

"wool"

Illustration Friday "wool"

It has been frigid for the last few days with low temperatures in the teens and strong winds---perfect weather for a warm wool sweater, hat, and mittens.

I'm posting the black and white illustration today, but plan to add some watercolor. It was fun drawing this week's IF prompt, and trying to imagine what the inside of the barn would look like. Fortunately the sheep get to keep their thick coats for the winter, and the girl gets to enjoy last year's wool in its knitted form.

Stay warm!

Snow Storm

Illustration Friday "storm"

No school yesterday and plenty of shoveling today! The Blizzard of 2013 is winding down and we have dug out the cars, refilled the bird feeders, and overdosed on TV coverage of the storm. Fortunately we didn't lose power as so many people did in the New England area.

There are a lot of birds in the yard--- cardinals, pine siskins, goldfinches, chickadees, various sparrows, a carolina wren, bluejays, juncos, downy woodpeckers, and a couple of crows looking for a free meal. It makes you wonder how these small creatures survive the wind and the cold each night, especially during a storm.
