Snow Storm

Illustration Friday "storm"

No school yesterday and plenty of shoveling today! The Blizzard of 2013 is winding down and we have dug out the cars, refilled the bird feeders, and overdosed on TV coverage of the storm. Fortunately we didn't lose power as so many people did in the New England area.

There are a lot of birds in the yard--- cardinals, pine siskins, goldfinches, chickadees, various sparrows, a carolina wren, bluejays, juncos, downy woodpeckers, and a couple of crows looking for a free meal. It makes you wonder how these small creatures survive the wind and the cold each night, especially during a storm.

  1. Glad that you did not lose power Jane, we have heard that it has been a really massive snow storm. Keep snug. Love your drawing and that wonderful photo, we don't see birds like him over here. He is so handsome ;0)

  3. When the storm is over and your house still standing, everything is snug, cosy and quiet! It looks so peaceful. I think the birds hide in holes in trees and thick bushes or something like that. Luckily they have survived and just re-appear and go on with their thing: looking for food.
