NHAA Prints of the Year Exhibit

Last Friday night, I went to the "Prints of the Year Show" in Portsmouth, that's hanging in the NHAA Gallery. I was happy to see that my print "Goffstown Stream" was hung in a great spot near the entrance. My friend Lori and I had a good time visiting the two exhibit openings that our works are part off. Thanks to her husband, who drove us, and her brother and sister-in-law who came along for the fun. The evening was capped off with a yummy dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Portsmouth.

Off to the Art Shows

Last weekend, my friend Lori, and I brought our prints to Portsmouth to participate in the "Prints of the Year Show" at the NHAA Gallery. I had quickly finished the final layer of the "Goffstown Stream" print (see previous post), and framed it in time for the drop off.

The funny part of the story is that we have art in two shows, and both galleries are having their openings on Friday night. One is in Concord from 5-7pm, and the other is in Portsmouth from 5-8pm. The plan right now is to go to Concord's McGowan Gallery right at 5, and then drive over to the seacoast in time of the second one!

Goffstown Stream Print

I've been working on this print for a month or so, in between other projects, the holidays, and my day job. I had done a smaller image of this same stream in black and white last year, but I wanted to do a larger one with more layers. This is a reduction block print, using only one easy cut block.

Transferring the image from tracing paper onto the block by placing the pencil sketch face down and rubbing the back with a wooden spoon.

  This is the the third color, after layers of blue gray and light gray. I plan on adding one more dark color to complete the print.
